Riva del Garda

At Riva del Garda, on Lago di Garda.

Husband and wife.

Strike a pose.

Waiting his turn.

You're never too old for a playground.

OK, I'm finally caught up! This was yesterday. Win got the day off, so we decided to do something a little more natural and avoid another big city. We headed up into the mountains north of Verona to Lake Garda. I've posted about it before. It's beautiful and very unique. This time we headed to the northernmost tip, to Riva del Garda.

It was sunny and warm, except for the strong wind that came right off the water. Riva has a great park/beach area, where I had thought we could hang out for a while. It was too windy. So we walked into the center of town and had schnitzel for lunch. I like Riva for its Austrian vibe. And I LOVE schnitzel. It also has a really nice center that is pedestrian only, so we let Lem run his heart out. He found rocks, and tractors to watch. He helped "push" his stroller. We just wandered, checking out the church and shopping a little. Then we headed back down to the center for a gelato. Lem had fragola (strawberry), I had cioccolato caldo con panna (hot chocolate with whipped cream), and Win and Caroline tried a concoction of mango-flavored vodka, limone gelato and who knows what else. They said it was amazing.

We had to stop on the way back to the car to play on this huge playground. As you can see, Lem wasn't the only one who enjoyed it. Right at the beginning, though, he was climbing up a small slide, was sitting on it to go down, and instead flipped backwards. Win was right there and said it was perfect, he flipped completely over and landed on his face, but didn't get hurt at all. Luckily the entire playground was floored with rubber mats. He didn't even cry! He just needed a hug from Win, and he was fine, although he stayed away from the slides for the rest of the day.

And now I'm caught up to today. For the first time this week, it is raining. We haven't done anything, just relaxed. Both Win and Lem are sick with something Win brought home. Nothing serious, but neither one is in a great mood. Caroline leaves tomorrow.
